I gave it a quick read through and couldn't see any problems (at least
for those who weren't up to no good).

I suppose if I had the 'The Liberator' (3D printed gun) plans on my
computer I could be in trouble with my daughters 3D printer in the house
even if I didn't want to make one.

I've read it now.

I dealt with legislation right through my 40 year career so am used to
reading and understanding Bills and Acts. There is no problem with it.
You could certainly have a problem with it if you were a dodgy person up

yet still have a safe gun.

Nope, obviously you have never had the life experiences that jonz and
many others may have had.

FWIW, almost any powered lathe can turn out a gum barrell(the easy part),
all that is lacking is operator skill and maybe a few tools/bolt ons that
any competent metalworker could construct.

If you have a lathe, you can construct your own tools. That's a nice
feature of a lathe. I went one better and I have a lathe/mill combo. Now
that's a really useful little jigger right there. I can make *anything*
with it. The legislation doesn't worry me one bit nor will it worry my
mate who also has a lathe.

All that is lacking in your situation is everything apart from the
barrel. I suppose it would by easy enough to make a very dirty shottie,
probably could do it with stuff in the shed but wouldn't risk using it

Fran When you make comments on your areas of experience then you come
across as competent. When you start making comments that are basically
talking down to people, your reputation slides to the level of the

Musket style is easy and caters for short range.
Rifled is easy if you hae a screw thread, other wise you either need to
add one one.
The question is what level of rifling do you really need. There are other
ways of scribing riflng inside a tube.

I know it never mentioned "caves", I did though!

A perfect picture of all that's wrong with lefties -
I'm miserable & someone else is to blame.

If the Left so strongly supports 'diversity'
why do they spend so much time trying to close down
opinions different to their own?

'Diversity' is the new Orwellian doublespeak,
a Leftist propaganda tool to disguise the fact
they are trying to create a more uniform,
homogenous society, in their own image.

I know it never mentioned "caves", I did though!
These weapons are made in Pakistan, Afghanistan region called
"Khyber Pass copy".

Yes but it is not targeting home gun manufacture

Very few guns police find so far are homemade

Almost all illegal guns are either got from police/military or
smuggled in

Labor "Greens" are Termites.
Political and social termites.
I loathe them with a passion.
They typify what is wrong with Australia and the West.

Yes but it is not targeting home gun manufactures. IIRC it isn't illegal in the US to do so.
Who is it targeting?

Yes you can make home-made guns in fact the czechs or polish made
sub-machine guns in WW2, the zip gun was made famous in the movies. Lots
of nasty thing you could make at home.
Very few guns police find so far are homemade
Easier to get them elsewhere
Almost all illegal guns are either got from police/military or
smuggled in
Some I assume are also stolen. No idea of the break-up of the figures

Everyone under the guise of
"Offence of taking part in unauthorised manufacture of firearms or
firearm parts"

This can be used as ruse by crowdsourcing APP to combat crime
Which by the way is not a problem in Australia.

Isn't this nice, relies on neighbours dobbing one in by claimed
antonymous suspicious activity

A perfect picture of all that's wrong with lefties -
I'm miserable & someone else is to blame.

If the Left so strongly supports 'diversity'
why do they spend so much time trying to close down
opinions different to their own?

'Diversity' is the new Orwellian doublespeak,
a Leftist propaganda tool to disguise the fact
they are trying to create a more uniform,
homogenous society, in their own image.

Australia will never be destroyed from the outside.
If we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we were destroyed from the rot within

FWIW, almost any powered lathe can turn out a gum barrell(the easy part),
rifled?
Musket style is easy and caters for short range.
Are you talking muzzle loader. That would take a lot of the
manufacturing out of it.
No, more single shot bored to take commercial load.
Screwed end cap with improvised firing mechanism for basic.
What people would make would be determined by the metal working skills
and time they wish to invest.
Post by Dechucka
Post by news18
Rifled is easy if you hae a screw thread, other wise you either need to
add one one.
I would think that rifle rifling is much finer then you could get with a
normal threaded
IME, there is actually very little twist in a commercial rifle compared
to the thread cutting capcity of a standard lathe.

Post by news18
The question is what level of rifling do you really need. There are
other ways of scribing riflng inside a tube.
Enough to get a good spin on the projectile for accuracy.
My uderstanding is that you only really need the spin over long distances,

all that is lacking is operator skill and maybe a few tools/bolt ons
that any competent metalworker could construct.
All that is lacking in your situation is everything apart from the
barrel.
Yes, it is the bits that are the hard work.
I personally think the danger is 3D printed but terrorism wise may have
limitations.
OK I've got no desire to build a gun and personally think there must be
easier ways of obtaining a weapon that hasn't got a good chance of
blowing up.
Yes, but GovCo has to stoke the fear factor to get these freedom
restrictions passed. We have enough problem with manufacturing capacity
in his country without imposing a pile of red tape on top of someone
trying to make a living by offering a manufacturing service.

On another list, some one made the comment that when musk started his
Tesla factory, it was impossible to get any custom metal work done
locally as the local business were tied up buildiing stuff for the
factory, machines an the production line.

While LNP screams about cutting red tape, they sure are keen keeping up
their practise of piling more and more onto working people.

Of course there would be no problem so he's either not read it or not
understood it to make such silly comments.

Part of the problem in this thread seems to be a failing to understand
(or probably even to notice) the words "authorised" as opposed to
"unauthorised". The Rambos here clearly don't know the NSW gun
legislation.

Authorised people CAN modify guns. It's fake news to claim that home
lathe owners could be in trouble. Idiot home lathe owners certainly
could be in trouble and deservedly so.
