Islam divides us, say the majority of Britons

Daily Mail [UK], by Steve Doughty
1/11/2010 7:45:55 AM

"More than half the population believe Britain is deeply divided along
religious lines, according to an official survey. A majority would
also strongly oppose the development of a mosque in their
neighbourhood, the research into social attitudes found. Almost half -
45 per cent - say they do not believe that diversity has brought
benefits to the country and that religious diversity has had a
negative impact...."

How many of those complaints about religion

I don't notice many Catholics of any persuasion calling for
Ireland or the UK to be run as a theocracy. Muslimes OTOH....

Look at the irish blasphemy laws. It is just an attempt to control the Irish
people and censor any criticism of the Vatican. It's not Islam that divides
us it is religion. The entire thing was set up to divide humanity so we
would fight amongst each other. Look at all the hatred Muslims have for the
Jews just because of their religion or the hatred Muslims and Christians
have for gay people. Or for people of other religions. It's about time
humanity took of the shackles of organised religion and worked together
instead of tear each other appart.

Do ou really think there would be any democracy once the Muslims
impose their shariah law? You'd watch the beer pubs in England get
closed down and you'd likely see yor presently modestly clad females

Many Christians converted because they couldn't afford to pay the
tax. It was commonplace that their infants would be wrested from them
in lieu of paying cash, which they didn't have. Discimination is
still rampant and making a living is tough in those countries. Coptic
Christians in Egypt were machine gunned upon leaving Xmas eve mass
this past year and the cops don't even pretend to find the murderers.
Girls are routinely kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery. The
jizya tax....bullshit. Those Muslims are just plain cruel, and we're
seeing only the tip of the iceberg as of now. .

I know of not one "Christian" country where somebody would commit a
capital crime if they switched from Chrisianity, but there are a
number of Muslim countries where a person would be up for excution if
a Muslim dared switch from Islam. A mosque is located not far from
the Vatican, but are any Christian chuches allowed to be built in
Saudi Arabia? NO!! It amazes me that people, what with is going on
throuhout the world, would attempt to draw parallels between the two
faiths of Islam and and any sect of Chistianity. Do these people

Muslims are expected to be strong adherers to their book, which

money; they cover up; in other words the vast majority are guilty, if

But they are Muslims who speak out against the acts of terrorists. I even
saw on the news Muslims in Pakistan were saying the Taliban are not true
Muslims. Plus al Qaida perverts the teachings of the Koran and take the
quotes out of context. They also have political reasons for doing what they
do. I'm not trying to justify terrorism, I'm just pointing that out.

No, Al Qaeda (and many other jihadist groups) don't pervert the Koran.
They take from the koran the verses of the sword literally and act upon
them.

Neither do they take the verses they quote out of context. They take them
*in* the context that their warrior prophet Mohammed of Medina used them
(and manufactured them).

I think you'll be hard pressed to find any of that in the New

Islam divides us, say the majority of Britons
Daily Mail [UK], by Steve Doughty

"More than half the population believe Britain is deeply
divided
along
religious lines, according to an official survey. A majority
would
also strongly oppose the development of a mosque in their
neighbourhood, the research into social attitudes found. Almost
half -
45 per cent - say they do not believe that diversity has
brought
benefits to the country and that religious diversity has had a
negative impact...."
How many of those complaints about religion
"dividing" them come from the British in N. Ireland?
I don't notice many Catholics of any persuasion calling for
Ireland or the UK to be run as a theocracy. Muslimes OTOH....
Look at the irish blasphemy laws. It is just an attempt to control
the
Irish
people and censor any criticism of the Vatican. It's not Islam that
divides
us it is religion. The entire thing was set up to divide humanity
so
we
would fight amongst each other. Look at all the hatred Muslims have
for
the
Jews just because of their religion or the hatred Muslims and Christians
have for gay people. Or for people of other religions. It's about time
humanity took of the shackles of organised religion and worked together
instead of tear each other appart.- Hide quoted text -

Do ou really think there would be any democracy once the Muslims

And scenes like that woman getting whipped in Pakistan would be common in

I know of not one "Christian" country where somebody would commit a
capital crime if they switched from Chrisianity, but there are a
number of Muslim countries where a person would be up for excution if
a Muslim dared switch from Islam.  A mosque is located not far from
the Vatican, but are any Christian chuches allowed to be built in
Saudi Arabia?  NO!! It amazes me that people, what with is going on
throuhout the world, would attempt to draw parallels between the two
faiths of Islam and and any sect of Chistianity.  Do these people
sleep under rocks?
Again I'm with you on everything you said. But Christianity does have blood
on it's hands. Plus Christians have committed acts of violence against
abortion clinics in America. Ok it's only the minority. But saying all
Muslims support the actions of Muslim extremists is a bit much. I don't hate
all Muslims, I just think the one's who do all the stuff you say (and
support them) are evil people and fascists.- Hide quoted text -

Muslims are expected to be strong adherers to their book, which
repeatedly directs their followers to kill. Granted, the Muslims that
do the killing are few, but we fail to see the waves of Muslims who
should be screaming that it's wrong.  We don't, because in the hearts
of most of them, they agree with what's going on.  They contribute
money; they cover up; in other words the vast majority are guilty, if
only tacitly so. Those that murder  abortion doctors, on the other
hand,  do not so by instructions of any Christian church, but rather
by direction of their own misguided kookiness.
But they are Muslims who speak out against the acts of terrorists. I even
saw on the news Muslims in Pakistan were saying the Taliban are not true
Muslims. Plus al Qaida perverts the teachings of the Koran and take the

do. I'm not trying to justify terrorism, I'm just pointing that out.- Hide quoted text -

There' s a few that protest, but there are 1.3 billion Muslims we
don't hear anything from. The majority of Muslims take what the
Qur'an says literally, and the parts thatt says to kill infidels is
not taken out of context. It's repeated over and over. Let's look at
it from it's historical perspective, they have started out from the
time of Mohammad to be on a warpath. They have taken vast areas of
land and forced people to convert.....or die. They took over one third
of the land that was Christian (Egypt, north Africa) in that fashion,
which is what got the crusades going, as Pope Urban saw that they were
going to take over everything if they weren't stopped. One example is
Afghanistan which is all Muslim now, but was once Buddhist before the
takeover. What part of the world is it that we don't see Muslims
carrying on? China, Russia, the Phillipines, Africa, you name it.

Absolutely. It is very hard to deal with fanatics, because being fanatics,
they simply will not listen to reason. And they may turn on you. Another
problem with Islam is the lack of a hierarchy, and the multitude of sects,
not all of which are alike, and which sometimes war among themselves.

You're kidding, of course. Once they take over, it's shariah law,

Nope, I'm totally hetero. I just don't want to see any of our
freedoms taken away, be it gay bars, beer pubs, etc. i may disagee
with the queers, but I'll fight for their freedoms. I've long ago
quit hitting the beer joints, but I don't want to see them shut down
just because I don't frequent them any longer. Same with cigarettes,

Tell me, where do Christians show hate for gays as do the Muslims,
where in some areas they bury them alive? Across the globe Muslims
are killing nonMuslimsnevery day because of religion and you lamely
come across with this silly notion that the cure is to rid the world
of religions. The Muslims, once they take power, by sheer numbers,
will institute shariah law. You will see gay bars, beer pubs, etc.,

"dividing" them come from the British in N. Ireland?
I don't notice many Catholics of any persuasion calling for
Ireland or the UK to be run as a theocracy.
Both the UK and Ireland have official religions.

Why?

Turkey envoy: Israel's shameful display is worst I've ever seen
By Haaretz Service

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned Israeli Ambassador Gaby
Levy for clarification, a day after the foreign ministry in Jerusalem called
in Ankara's envoy to Israel for what the latter described to Army Radio as
the most shameful experience of his 35-year career.

Israel's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that Deputy Foreign Minister Danny
Ayalon did not intend to humiliate Ambassador Ahmet Oguz Celikkol by seating
him in a lower chair without flag representation during their meeting.

Celikkol was called in regarding a recent Turkish television drama depicting
actors dressed as Shin Bet officers who kidnap babies.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that it had summoned the envoy and ordered
the seating arrangment to make clear that it would respond to any insult
made by the Turkish leadership.

Just three months ago, a similar diplomatic instance occurred between the
two countries after Turkey aired the controversial television drama Ayrilik
("Separation") which featured actors dressed as Israeli soldiers killing
Palestinian children.

During the meeting, Turkey's ambassador was seated in a low sofa, and facing
him, in higher chairs, were Ayalon and two other officials - an arrangement
carried out at Lieberman's orders.

A photo-op was held at the start of the meeting, during which Ayalon told
the photographers in Hebrew: "Pay attention that he is sitting in a
lower chair and we are in the higher ones, that there is only an Israeli
flag on the table and that we are not smiling."

Celikkol's associates told Army Radio on Tuesday, that the meeting with
Ayalon was the most shameful display he had seen in 35 years as a diplomat.

According to the associates, Celikkol had no idea what the topic of
conversation was to be when first seated. When the cameras left the room,
the sources said, the meeting was normal and professional.

"Had the ambassador understood Ayalon's intentions, which were only
expressed in Hebrew, he would have responded in kind," the source told Army
Radio.

Israeli officials: Liberman wants to keep tense ties with Turkey

Meanwhile, ministry sources said Monday that Foreign Minister Avigdor
Lieberman was trying to stop Defense Minister Ehud Barak from visiting to
Turkey next week, in order to keep up the recent tensions between the two
allied countries.

Barak was scheduled to leave for Turkey on Sunday to meet with his
counterpart and the foreign minister there, in an attempt to improve
deteriorating relations.

Tensions were renewed on Monday, after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan declared that Israel was endangering world peace by using
exaggerated force against the Palestinians, breaching Lebanon's air space
and waters and for not revealing the details of its nuclear program.

According to Foreign Ministry sources, Lieberman is now looking to "heat
things up" before Barak's trip, so as to torpedo attempts to mend the
tensions.

"We get the sense that Lieberman wants to heat things up before Barak's
visit," a senior Foreign Ministry source said. "All of the recent activities
were part of Lieberman's political agenda."

The Turkish government was expected to give a warm welcome to Barak, who
alongside Labor Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer was looking to bring the
allies' relations back to stability.

The Foreign Ministry sources surmised that Lieberman's efforts were aimed at
preventing Turkey from resuming its role as mediator in Israel's peace talks
with Syria

Thanks to the Qur'an which instructs Islamic followers many times over

But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud for man's been endowed with a
mushroom shaped cloud.
And we know for certain that some lovely day someone will set the spark off
and we will all be blown away.
They're rioting in Africa. There's strife in Iran. What nature doesn't do to
us will be done by our fellow man.
You Ozzies are wonderful.  You appreciate Tom Lehrer.  I am an American, old
enough to remember the 1950s, and I used to go to San Francisco in those
days where I could see and hear Tom Lehrer live, at clubs like the Purple
Onion and the Hungry I.  I listen to this song today, and feel sad, because
nothing has really changed.

I've met the guy who owned the Hungry I. He married my 2nd cousin when
he
was more than twice her age.
And that's bad?
It's their business not mine. At least she was legal when they began
dating.

Don't know, didn't live there. But I recall the news when Ireland
ended the RC church's ionfluence over government policies (and
Ireland's sudden economic growth). I believe this was when Ireland
joined the EU.

If you can't acknowledge how backward that is, you're not noticing much.

If they do it in order to encourge things that are against the law.
Such laws as assault, slander, public order, riot etc.
In which case the "incitement" provisions of those laws comes into play.

IOW there is no need for the new laws, just action under the old ones.

LOL, I'd like to see proof that heresy, blasphemy and apostasy laws
are enforced now (i.e. in the 21st century, 2010) in Ireland.

Do you want to lay a little wager that you won't be able to find
such proof? How about $50? Put your money where your fingers
are and grow a pair.

"dividing" them come from the British in N. Ireland?
I don't notice many Catholics of any persuasion calling for
Ireland or the UK to be run as a theocracy. Muslimes OTOH....
Ireland *WAS* pretty much a theocracy until about twenty years ago.
Did it feature enforced blasphemy, heresy and apostasy laws?
It does now. But it's ok because it isn't Islam, right?
LOL, I'd like to see proof that heresy, blasphemy and apostasy laws
are enforced now (i.e. in the 21st century, 2010) in Ireland.
Do you want to lay a little wager that you won't be able to find
such proof? How about $50? Put your money where your fingers
are and grow a pair.
Much more important is the fact that abortion is prohibited by
law.

Whether you agree with abortion or not is not the point. It is
banned because of religious pressure from the Catholic Church.
That church has severely lost much of its moral power in the last
few years because of the very many priests who had a fondness
for little boys. Soon the the abortion restriction will be over-
turned because of that loss of power. Again that has nothing to
do with whether you or I are for or against abortion.

Did it feature enforced blasphemy, heresy and apostasy laws?
It does now. But it's ok because it isn't Islam, right?
LOL, I'd like to see proof that heresy, blasphemy and apostasy
laws are enforced now (i.e. in the 21st century, 2010) in
Ireland. Do you want to lay a little wager that you won't be able
to find such proof? How about $50? Put your money where your
fingers are and grow a pair.
Much more important is the fact that abortion is prohibited by
law.- Hide quoted text -

You mean outright murder is legally prohbited?  Gads, there is no
limit to these people.  How dare they have the nerve to have such
thoughts!!
In the USA, millions of dollars were paid out to the victims of
such crimes by the Catholic Church and the priests involved were
cashiered and charged with pedophilia. The Catholic Church has,
in effect, come clean about its pedophilia problem.
And yet the "pedophilia problem" shows no sign of going away.

Priest accused of abusing STC child
ST. CHARLES – A Joliet priest that appeared to attempt suicide
by jumping off a church balcony is accused of sexually abusing
a St. Charles child.
The Rev. Alejandro Flores, 37, on Wednesday, jumped off the
20-foot choir balcony St. Mary’s Carmelite Church in Joliet,
which is no longer in use, police said.
Two days earlier, St. Charles police received reports that
Flores sexually abused a St. Charles child and referred the
information to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office,
according to St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain.http://www.kcchronicle.com/articles/2010/01/08/22350732/index.xml
Priest gets conditional discharge in Mamaroneck fondling incident
JANUARY 12, 2010
WHITE PLAINS — The Rev. Richard Ordonez offered no apology in
court today as he was given a conditional discharge for fondling
a female parishioner at a Mamaroneck church. The 38-year-old
Ecuadorean cleric was sentenced in Westchester County Court two
months after pleading guilty to forcible touching, a misdemeanor.

With hundreds of thousands of priests, this is so difficult to
believe? Where, besides the graveyards, are you going to find no such
problems? And don't tell me the US Congress or the American Bar Assoc.

Many people cashed in on that Catholic cornucopia of money. There are
some priests who linger in prison because of false charges brought
against them, with the liars willing to see them jailed so they have
their crack at the Catholic funded lottery. Meanwhile, there are
morons that won't discuss how Islamic imams and mullahs are telling
their congregates to go and murder nonbelievers. Does America stand a
chance? Not with spineless nonthinkers it hasn't.

Spineless nonthinkers, eh?

I'll tell you what's spineless non-thinking...

Thinking that *all* muslims agree with what a tiny minority of immams and
mullahs are teling their congregates to do.

It's very easy just to paint everyone with the same brush, isn't it?

Heads up...

It doesn't matter what any organised religion says... theirs OR ours... it's
individual actions that count. There are lots of good muslims, and a few bad
ones, just as there are lots of good christians and a few bad ones.

It's very interesting that you have little faith in western justice. Isn't
that the (one of the) beef(s) that the islamic world has with the west?

I think you've oversimplified things somewhat.

Amd there are somepeople willing to perjure themselvs by making false
accusations against certain priests in order to cash in on those
lucrative lawsuits, and little is mentioned about that. It would be
most interesting to find out why. The same writers hardly ever talk
about Islamic clergymen promoting violence. Might it because they're
afraid of possible physical repercussions......like getting killed by
some Muslims? Van Gogh's nephew comes to mind......

The church seems to be getting over its problems; maybe it's time you
got over yours. A small percentage of priests ashamedly abused little
boys, and you and your fellow cretins want to kill them, along with
their baby sisters.
You seem to be responding to another. Nothing in your comment refers
to mine.

"dividing" them come from the British in N. Ireland?
I don't notice many Catholics of any persuasion calling for
Ireland or the UK to be run as a theocracy. Muslimes OTOH....
Ireland *WAS* pretty much a theocracy until about twenty years ago.
Did it feature enforced blasphemy, heresy and apostasy laws?
It does now. But it's ok because it isn't Islam, right?- Hide quoted text -

You're really trying tom compare Islam to Catholicism? You're
serious......

You're right. Some people draw parallels when lines are at 90 degrees
away from each other.

You don't see a difference between sects of Christianity fighting and
the differences between Christianity and Islam. The Catholic faith in
England is rather strong. Even the ex-prime minister converted to
Catholicism.

That had nothing to do with the strength of Catholicism in the UK and
everything to do with a bad conscience. The CE don't do confessions.

Yes, they do, if you ask them to!

Britain has been divided along religious lines for quite a while.
Centuries in fact. I suggest you read a bit of history before
trumpeting this fact as news.

Huh? I don't think there's been any killing/persecution along COE --
Catholic --
Protestant lines in well over 200 years.

OK, I stand corrected. It's only been a hundred years. But no one was
killed unlike the 2.5 million Armenian and Assyrian Christians
slaughtered
by muslime Turks at about the same time. Of course a few Christian
Armenians
weren't slaughtered but enslaved.

Three letters you should type into Google: IRA.
